As 2009 comes to a close, so too does the first decade of this new millennium. We are full of reflection and retrospective wisdom as we compile our best-of, to-do, and resolution lists. The end of every year serves as a much-needed reminder that no matter what has happened in the past, we have a lot to look forward to in the year ahead.
Looking back at the past 12 months, we’ve worked with many clients and written a great deal about innovating during the recession. “Doing more with less” was probably the most oft-repeated goal of the year. And it will likely continue to be the goal for many in 2010 and beyond. Because many companies have realized that, whether they are flush with cash or strapped, innovation still needs to happen. And many companies have been forced to figure out how to make it happen during the last year.
We’ve all been forced to break bad habits, to innovate smarter and more efficiently, to waste fewer resources, and to invest more in successful growth projects. And in all of this change lies the silver lining of 2009: we learned that we have to rethink growth and innovation.
All of us at futurethink would like to thank you for all the questions, comments, and support you’ve given us over the past year. We wish you a very happy, restful, and safe holiday season. We’ll see you in 2010.
What innovation lessons have you learned in 2009?
